Born Georg Christian Warth on the 21 April 1836, in Birkenfeld. In 1884 he moved to Klopstockstraße, Berlin, adjacent to the Artist's Quarter in Hansaplatz. In early 1890 he suffered a severe stroke and died on 28 March 1890, in the house of his daughter, Amalia Schmidt, née Warth. Meanwhile Warth's stein designs proved to be commercially very popular, and after his move to Berlin, he continued submitting designs by post. Many of them remained in production at the Mettlach factory until, at least 1906.
