The Lammerer family originated from Regensburg, and their original company was founded in 1838. The earliest date listed in the 1847 Regensburg address book is for Johann Georg Lammerer, where his profession is stated as Säcklermeister (Master Saddler). His main product however was Lederhosen, which uses saddle stitch on leather. By 1868 there was both Johann Georg and Chr. Lammerer, each listed as a Säckler (Maker of Saddles) By 1872 only Chr. Lammerer's listing remains. When the Munich shop was opened in 1915, Chr. Lammerer was already retired and living at Kosttor 2 in Munich. It is the author's theory that the Munich branch only opened once the Regensburg branch had closed. Both the shops in Vienna and Munich were run by Leonhard Lammerer, post 1915 (probably the son of Chr. Lammerer).
