
A Regensburg pattern stein showing the normal capacity mark on the front, and a relief image advertising the Carmelite brewery which was founded in Straubing in 1367, but has been owned by the same family since 1879. In 1447 the Regensburg commissioners tasked their city doctor to test the beer regularly in the town and to pay special attention to the ingredients. After the doctor's bad experiences, the commissioners issued a brewing standard in 1453.
